Defining What an Emerging Leader Is

We took a deep dive into what this company really needed and found they had to get clear on the difference between young talent and emerging leaders.

Looking at the data, we spotted some key gaps – people weren't thinking strategically enough, struggling to influence others without having the title, and missing the big-picture view needed to hit business goals. When we compared what the research says about emerging leaders versus young talent, we realized we needed to build a pipeline of people who could work across different departments and drive innovation. What mattered was their potential, not their age.

So we created this 3-day program for emerging leaders, with their C-Suite execs leading the sessions. We focused on skills that really matter:

  • Emotional Intelligence (using DiSC assessments)

  • Decision Making

  • Influence

  • Culture and Engagement

  • Innovation

We rolled up our sleeves with key stakeholders to figure out what "emerging leader" actually meant for this organization, then created content that spoke to their specific challenges. Our marketing and communication emphasized why these leadership skills were so important.

Did it work? Absolutely! 96% of participants said they could use what they learned right away in their jobs. This shows that shifting our focus from technical skills to leadership abilities really hit the mark – meeting the needs of both the participants and the organization
